Glutathione (GSH) is the most powerful naturally occurring antioxidant in all human cells. It is a tripeptide composed of the amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. Glutathione plays a substantial role in the functioning of the body’s immune system. Its antioxidant property makes it vital to white blood cells—as it allows them to reach their full potential during the oxygen-requiring activity of the body’s immune response.

GSH is found in all cells in the body but especially in the liver, making it critically important in detoxifying and eliminating free radicals. Accumulating these dangerous compounds can result in oxidative stress, which occurs when the generation of free radicals in the body exceeds the body’s ability to neutralize and eliminate them. Free radicals are highly reactive compounds created in the body during normal metabolic functions; they can also enter the body through the environment.

Glutathione is the cornerstone of antioxidant defense and is a key supplement for preventing oxidative stress. It has been found that GSH production decreases with age. A decrease in glutathione has been associated with the onset of neurodegenerative conditions. Glutathione supplements are used to improve many different conditions including Parkinson’s, diabetes, and autism. While glutathione is often administered in hospitals with an IV, there are alternative delivery methods available that can be effectively used at home.

Glutathione Nasal Delivery

Delivery of GSH in a nasal spray can be an effective treatment for many conditions. The nasal spray delivery method allows greater bioavailability of GSH than when the oral supplement. This makes nasal administration the preferred method for most patients, as it provides a greater systemic effect.

The best way to administer GSH at home is with an atomizer, which sends small particles of the medication deep into the sinus cavity. The Rhino Clear Sprint atomizer is available at our pharmacy and only needs to be purchased one time. After that, you can use your atomizer for every order of glutathione.

Glutathione Creams and Suppositories

Transdermal application of GSH is available in cream form. Glutathione breaks down in the digestive process when taken orally, which leads to a lack of absorption. Using a cream ensures that glutathione gets absorbed and is a more effective method of administration. A glutathione suppository can also be made for the same reason of more effective absorption.
