HA 1% Gel
Although the name is similar to ingredients that we compound into chemical peels like glycolic acid and salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid is completely different. It does not exfoliate the skin but instead keeps it moisturized. It is one of the most effective humectants available, which is why it is popular in many anti-aging products.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is naturally produced throughout the body and helps hold moisture in the skin. With age comes a decrease in production of HA, which affects the skin’s ability to stay hydrated. When skin loses its ability to retain moisture it leads to a dull, dry, and wrinkled appearance. Topically applied hyaluronic acid gel restores the skin’s ability to retain moisture.
The decrease in HA that comes with age can result from both intrinsic and extrinsic aging factors. The primary extrinsic factor for premature aging is accumulated exposure to UV radiation or what is called photodamage. Years of unprotected sun exposure lead to prematurely aged skin that looks dry and wrinkled. Restoring hydration with hyaluronic acid gel makes the skin look smoother, plumper, and more youthful.
Add Hyaluronic Acid Gel to Any Anti-Aging Regimen
HA gel can be applied before another moisturizer to enhance its effects and provide the skin with even better hydration. It should be applied on clean, damp skin before any other steps in a skincare routine. Other products like Retin-A or our WHP C-Rx kit can be effectively combined with hyaluronic acid gel to create a complete anti-aging regimen.
