Pure Cholestyramine Resin (CSM)

Cholestyramine (CSM) binds bile in the gastrointestinal tract to prevent its reabsorption. It is a strong ion-exchange resin, which means that it can exchange its chloride ions with bile acids in the gastrointestinal tract and bind them strongly in the resin matrix. CSM has a ammonium side chain, which is of the right size and charge to bind with the toxic ionophores, preventing reabsorption. Traditionally used in lowering cholesterol, cholestyramine is also used in treating lyme disease and biotoxin illness.

Most healthcare providers and practitioners prefer pure CSM free of fillers and additives. Click here to learn more about the differences between commercially available Questran or Prevalite and the pure resin form of CSM. Our pure CSM is consistent with every order and we are able to provide supplier information with a valid NDC number. Always ensure you are getting your cholestyramine from a reputable source.
