Colloidal Silver 0.025% (25ppm), EDTA 0.5% Nasal Spray with Hypromellose (a Mucolox® alternative)
Colloidal silver in the form of a nasal spray has been shown to successfully treat infections that cause chronic rhinosinusitis. Silver has been used as an antibacterial for many years and has multiple applications including water purification, wound care, and certain surgical procedures. The use of an intranasal spray with colloidal silver and EDTA has become more popular with healthcare practitioners recently for treating resistant infections of the nasal passages. These infections often result from exposure to mold toxins that cause biotoxin illness.
EDTA nasal spray is a mainstay therapy for MARCoNS as part of the Shoemaker protocol for biotoxin illness. EDTA is a chelating agent that clears the biofilm that harbors resistant bacteria. Combined with antibacterial and antifungal ingredients it is prescribed for treating infections that cause chronic sinusitis. Silver has antibacterial properties that help clear the infection once the biofilm is removed.
Colloidal silver nasal spray is prescribed for treating Lyme disease as an alternative to long-term use of antibiotics. Silver has low toxicity in the body and the risks of using colloidal silver nasal spray are minimal. One of the main benefits of using colloidal silver is that unlike an antibiotic, bacteria can not develop resistance to it. This may give colloidal silver advantages over antibiotic treatment in some situations.
